FAQs

Here you'll find some of the most commonly asked questions - if you have a question that isn't covered below, please feel free to get in touch!

Do I leave my dog with you?

Yes, generally I find that dogs are much more co-operative when their owners aren’t there. If you have any particular concerns about leaving your dog however, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss arranging an appointment for you to stay.

My dog is pregnant, can you still groom her?

Unfortunately not, grooming a pregnant dog can cause her to abort her litter. For the safety of your dog and her puppies, I recommend she is groomed once all of the puppies are weaned, usually around 8 weeks after birth.

Can you groom my dog whilst in season?

Unfortunately not – your dog is likely to be much more sensitive during this time and it can make the session uncomfortable for her. Additionally, I work alongside other groomers in the salon and a bitch in season can cause all kinds of havoc with any intact males! I recommend booking her in when she’s feeling back to herself.

How old does my puppy need to be before I can book an appointment?

I recommend getting your puppy in as early as possible for their introductory sessions, so after their second vaccination is the perfect time to start getting them used to the process.

Do you offer anal gland expression?

I’m afraid this is not a service I offer – it is recommended to be carried out by a qualified vet only.

Can you groom my dog if he/she has fleas?

Please do not bring your dog to their appointment if you are aware that they have fleas – please let me know as soon as possible so that we can re-schedule. If your dog is found to have fleas during the groom, I will use a flea shampoo when bathing, but you may need to seek further treatment. If a severe infestation is found, I reserve the right to terminate the groom until the appropriate treatment has been carried out.

Please note that if fleas are found on your dog, an additional fee of £10 will be added to the groom cost to cover the use of specialist products and deep cleaning.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or re-arrange your appointment, please do give me as much notice as possible so that I can try to offer the slot to another doggy in need of a groom. A deposit of 50% may be required at the time of booking in order to reserve your appointment – this is fully refundable or transferable if cancelled more than 48 hours before your appointment. For any cancellations more than 48 hours before your appointment there is no charge, for less than 48 hours’ notice there will be a charge of 50% of the groom cost, and for less than 24 hours’ notice the full groom cost will be charged. Please note that I will be unable to book a further appointment until the amount owed is paid.

I am running late for my appointment, can you still fit my dog in?

Whilst I will do my best to complete the groom as planned, I do work on a tight schedule with back-to-back appointments. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your appointment time, I may not be able to complete the full groom as planned – I will do what I can in the time allocated but please do note that the full groom price will still apply. Please note that no shows are charged at the full price of the groom.

Can I leave my dog with you past the agreed collection time?

Unfortunately not, I work one on one with your dog’s so a late collection can push back my next appointment. If you are running late, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can make any necessary adjustments in my schedule. I do allow a 15-minute grace period as I understand that things can happen out of your control, but a late collection fee of £5 per 30 minutes will apply after this time.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured.

Do you have a pricelist?

I do not have a set pricelist – prices quoted on booking will be an estimate based on the information provided. Prices can vary based on several factors including your dogs coat type and condition, the size of your dog, behaviour and temperament of your dog, and the time between grooming appointments. Additional charges may be added for matted coats and flea treatments.
